We have all made New Year’s Resolutions from “I am going to lose 10 lbs, go to church every Sunday, be a better employee etc …” But here is a great but startling statistic that I found from the Huffington Post .Each year 45 percent of Americans set New Year’s resolutions, but only 8 percent are successful at achieving them So, how can we beat those odds? Well here are 5 ways to keep this New Year’s Resolution in that 8% bracket.
#1 If You Resolve to Get More Sleep:
“Set a bed time and prepare for it 30 minutes ahead by doing something relaxing like reading or taking a hot bath. Your wake up time should be eight hours later. Sleeping late on weekends cannot make up for lost time! It’s just that easy to start feeling more energized each day.”
#2 If you Want to Stick to Your Workout Routine:
You need to find a partner in crime or a group class to join. This way you have people to keep you accountable and counting on you to do workout with them. You know the famous saying “two is better than 1” well it definitely rings true here.
#3 If You Resolve Anything at All:
“Turn resolutions into small goals and have a game plan. Write out a game plan and start to take yourself out of your comfort zone and try new things. If you want to run a marathon sign up and pay for it! If you want to go to school, start taking classes in the area that you want to graduate in. If there is no plan there is no room for success. Remember it is the little steps that will lead to the big success!
#4 To become healthier:
You need a game plan; something to follow like healthy blogs, my personal favorite the whole9life.com, and finding healthy alternatives to the foods that you love. Also pre -plan your week of meals, pack your lunches, and have prepared snacks this way you will have everything ready for you and you will never get into a (need to cheat) situation.
#5 If you resolve to save more money:
Create a realistic budget and start journaling for 30 days every penny you spend. This will help you to see areas that you can really cut out, and places you are spending your most money. I did this and continue to do this and realized we were spending money in places that we both agreed were unnecessary. Now we have literally eliminated everything we don’t need and have made it a fun game to see who can save the most each month.
