I love making burger bars. They are such a great, easy, and delicious treat and very filling too.
Here is a new recipe of mine that is to die for!
Ingredients:
8 – 10 strips of nitrate free bacon
1 1/2 lbs of ground turkey meat
4 tablespoons of grade B Maple Syrup (divided)
1/2 cup red onion diced
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 gala (or granny smith) apple diced and cored
3 tablespoons of coconut oil (divided)
1/4 cup of paleo mayonnaise
1 Tbsp of Dijon mustard
Directions:
For Maple-Dijon Sauce: In a small bowl, stir to combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and 2 tablespoons maple syrup; set aside.
For Turkey Burgers: In a medium bowl, mix together pepper, cumin, diced apples, garlic, diced red onion burgers. Wet hands to prevent sticking and shape into 4 -6 patties.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. When oil is hot add burgers and cook 5 to 7 minutes per side or until done.
In a separate skillet heat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, maple syrup, and place 4 pieces of nitrate free bacon ( I slice mine into halves) cook until bacon is crispy. Place the bacon grease and coconut oil residue in a small bowl and set aside.
Place turkey patty on a romaine lettuce leaf with 1 – 2 strips of bacon place a small spoonful of maple mayo sauce and top with a condiment of choice (tomato, avocado, fried egg, etc)
Enjoy!
