Wikipedia’s definition of Gratitude:
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
I am currently working on some real deep rooted growth in my life right now (figuratively and literally as I am pregnant with twins). In the past month I have been adding a new “Journaling Theme” each morning. With new themes each week to write about.
This current week’s theme is all about Gratitude ..
Each morning I wake up grab my journal and immediately start writing about what I am thankful for right in that moment. It was amazing to me .. how much of change it made me feel immediately.
I used to get out of bed and think how tired I was and how I didn’t want to go to work etc ..
We have all repeated these things over in our head and what I found was I didn’t even believe it .. I had just been telling that to myself and it became routine.
When we write what you are thankful for you are immediately see how many wonderful things, people, events you have that are positive.
I also call someone, tell someone, write someone and let them know how thankful I am to have them in my life in some way.
There is so much to be thankful for each day.
I recently heard a story of a man who was told by his doctor he was loosing his vision and there was nothing he could do to stop the loss. The man chose to find gratitude in this alarming diagnosis and started every morning sitting out on his deck for 15 to 20 minutes looking at the beauty of nature.
As they did more and more research they actually found they could fix the problem in his eye and today he has perfect vision in both. He chose to be grateful for the time he had instead of in that time complaining he “would never see”.
I think all of us would be a lot happier, less stressed, more content, more full if we did this simple exercise each and every day!
Happy Monday!
