A very dear friend came to me about 3 months ago, in need of my help. She had decided to sign up for a big competition in her city and wanted me to help her with nutrition and workouts, so she could be the best she knew she could be.
I of course did not even think twice to say yes, and I set her up on a plan for success. Every week I would send her three workouts, and she would give me weekly updates on her nutrition and send me video of not only her, but her family as well doing these workouts.
Sometimes she wanted to give up, or throw in the towel and call it quits to the event and my workouts. But then she would keep her eye on the prize and that would push her through.
She knew if she did not take this opportunity or “risk”, that she would not be able to grow and succeed into the person she knew she could be. As the day approached and our discussions became more frequent, her fear grew.
She thought “Was all of this worth it”, “Was this even what she wanted to do”?
“What if the risk wasn’t worth the reward”?
Then on Sunday October 3rd she took the “Risk” and competed in the Mrs. South Dakota Pageant. She is a HUGE advocate for Autism Speaks as her son was diagnosed 8 years ago. Taking this risk and using this event to talk about her cause, made her forget about all the negative and focus on what was really important!
Her “Reward” was greater than her “Risk”. Not only did she touch many with her cause, she took a huge leap out of her comfort zone for something that was far greater than her fear! Sure enough on the evening of October 3rd, her Risk paid off and she was crowned “Mrs. South Dakota International”.
She will now be able to truly make a difference in her state, and help to get the voice of autism speaks heard!
She proves that taking a “Risk” in life can open so many more possibilities, not only for her but her family as well!
She of course looked amazing, but the moral of this blog is with Risk comes Reward!!!!
