I remember back to just a few years ago when the word Crossfit came up it was merely a word that meant a lot to a small group of individuals. People of the outside world had no idea what Crossfit was or the impact it was having on the people involved.
The gyms where referred to as “a box” ( a small location that was raw and looked bare with a few bars some things called kettlebells, some big round balls, a rower, rope, and pull up aparatus).
It was very underground, and if you heard anyone mention the word Crossfit you immediately went from stranger to close personal friend!
Even as Crossfit grew, the feeling of community, comrodery, and closeness still existed.
Then in 2010 Crossfit announced that a company by the name of Reebok would be taking over and opening their first ever Reebok CrossFit Gym.
I had my hesitations at first, “what was this going to do to our “little” Crossfit community”? How could a big conglomerate keep this mom and pop company from getting too big and becoming a trend, rather than a life changing experience that it has been for sooo many?
We can and will keep Crossfit a community no matter how big it gets by keeping about the community and the people! Some people dislike the fact that Reebok got involved, I look at it as a way to touch that many more people’s lives! Imagine how great it would be if more people could have the love, support, and belief that you have each and every day from your Crossfit family. How much impact would that have on our health and wellness globally with quality coaching and being pushed and cheered on by your peers?
The Crossfit world is a great place, and the bigger it gets the better place it will be!
