I was talking with one of my clients on Friday night who is a therapist, and she was telling me how 80% of people in the U.S. have some form of depression.
This percentage was astounding to me, until I really sat and thought about it. It makes perfect sense if you look at the way we as Americans “typically” live.
Most of us work at jobs we don’t like, we sit all day in front of computer screens and illuminated lighting, while snacking on foods that are filled with chemicals that our body doesn’t know how to properly digest. We have very stressful lives, and then come home and spend (on avg). 4 hours sitting in front of the television. Now I don’t know how many of you have seen all the garbage that is on t.v., but 4 hours of that alone would make me depressed.
Basically we are getting inadequate sleep, not enough exercise, and filling our body with processed foods; that just sounds depressing.
Here is a great article from Robb Wolf’s site on the link between depression and nutrition.
Wouldn’t it be great to feel they way you know you want to and should just by changing a few things that you put in your mouth……
