Wikipedia’s definition of Motivation states:
Motivation is a psychological feature that arouses an organism to act towards a desired goal and elicits, controls, and sustains certain goal-directed behaviors. It can be considered a driving force; a psychological one that compels or reinforces an action toward a desired goal.
As many of my readers know, I am fascinated with what drives and motivates people day in and day out. How can some find the motivation to be a Navy Seal while others can barely find motivation to get off the couch?
Furthermore, once you are motivated how do you continue to keep pressing on and further your motivation to continue growing?
Motivation is a trained habit just like working out or waking up early etc… You have to physically train your brain to focus on that next goal and continue to find what habits or routines are going to get you closer to that goal i.e. “motivation”.
Here are ten great tips that I found when reading Seal Grinder PT. It is a great resource and website to really dive in to what it is like in the life and mind of a trained Navy Seal. (so if these guys are doing this there must be something to it)!
Keep this list in close proximity and train your brain to read goals each day, stay focused on the goal at hand, and remove the negative from your vocabulary.
My husband (Mr.CPM himself) always uses a great phrase:
“The more we eliminate options the more clear our vision will be”.
Basically the more we stay focused on our path to success it is much easier to eliminate the naysayer’s, the negative self-sabotaging thoughts, and all the reasons why we “can’t” do it. It enables us to focus on the positive steps in front of us, and all the reasons why we are and can reach our full potential!
