I saw a funny video recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live asking everyday people on the street what “gluten” was and why it was bad ….

So with the “gluten-free” craze what exactly is “gluten”, and why is it so bad for us?
Wikipedia’s definition of Gluten – a substance present in cereal grains, especially wheat, that is responsible for the elastic texture of dough. A mixture of two proteins, it causes illness in people with celiac disease.
So that is what it is for Celiac’s but what if we don’t feel we have a gluten “intolerance” or Celiac’s disease? Who cares if I eat gluten right?
WRONG …
Here is a great article from the Mark Sisson on what exactly gluten is doing to your body, even if you don’t “see” any effects from it.
The article is an eye-opening depiction of how bad this little protein really is to your overall health and wellness.
I always tell my clients just take it out of your diet for a month and then add it back in and see if you notice any differences at all.
The most common effects of gluten in the ordinary “unaffected” person is acne, sleeping disorders, weight gain, inflammation, rashes, psoriasis, gas, bloating, migraines etc…
The next time you second guess your “intolerance” research this pesky protein and educate yourself about why it can be so harmful to your overall health.
