Unfortunately Summer is nearing the end, but it is not over yet! You still have plenty of time to get those last few enjoyable pleasures that summer has to offer…..
Here are the top 5 things to accomplish before you decorate your pumpkins….
1. Enjoy the UV Rays and soak up some last bits of Vitamin D: Vitamin D is great for weight loss, heart disease reduction, reduced inflammation to joints and tissue, increased happiness, and much more.
2. Visit your local Farmer’s Markets and stock up on fresh produce: Not only are you getting to support your local farmers when doing this you are also able to get good colorful quality foods. I like to stock up on a bunch at the end of the day when they are basically giving it away and then I will freeze it and use it in stews and crock pot meals in the winter. This way I have control of the quality of veggies I am putting in my foods even when they are not readily available!
3. Go for a run, hike, swim, or bike ride in the great outdoors and clear your mind with that wonderful fresh air.
4. Get your fun summer maxi dresses, flip-flops, and fun bright colors out for one more weekend of fun!
5. Make one more batch of sun tea: For some reason there is something about the warm summer air and a nice cold glass of sun tea! It is not too late to have that refreshing taste one last time! Here is a great recipe that my grandma handed down:
Raspberry Sun tea:
Ingredients
8 bags Lipton original tea
Water
1 cup
raspberries
2 tbsp. honey
1 lemon,
sliced
Ice
Directions
Fill a gallon size jar add water, sliced lemon, and tea bags.
Let sit in the sun for 1-2 hours or in the shade for
5 hours. Discard tea bags.
Next combine the raspberries and honey in a bowl.
Mash the raspberries to a consistent texture.
Fill a glass with ice. Add 1 – 2 tablespoons of the raspberry mixture and a slice of
lemon to your glass for garnish.
Top with tea until glass is full.
Stir and Enjoy!
