With all the information overload that is out there, it is really difficult to dicipher what is healthy and what is actually doing you more harm than good. So what snacks are we told are “healthy”, but really should be avoided at all costs?
Here they are in no specific order:
1. Granola – Granola has a ton of sugar and The oats are basically glued together with ingredients like high-fructose corn syrup, honey, and barley malt—all of which quickly raise blood sugar.with grains comes many other harmful side effects such as IBS, Auto Immune Diseases, digestive issues, and bloating.
2. Smoothies or Juices – Some of these “healthy” snacks have a tremendous amount of calories and over 40 grams or more of sugar! Your body can’t utilize this much sugar and so it gets stored as fat! Which does not put us on the road to Fit or Chic!
3. Muffins – Have you ever heard the term “muffin top”? There is a specific reason for this; eat muffins get a muffin top! There is NO such thing as a healthy muffin of any kind! In fact most muffins contain more calories and sugars than many donuts do! Avoid these dangerous snacks at all cost.
4. Wraps – Many people believe since these tasty treats are wrapped in a “whole wheat” tortilla or small flour tortilla that its healthy – don’t be fooled by this, sometimes these snacks have more calories than a normal sandwich.
5. Rice Cakes – These foods may seem light and fluffy, but they are loaded with chemicals and have absolutely no nutritional value what so ever! They are probably one of the most processed foods that you can have. Stay FAR FAR Away!
6. Pretzels – Everyone thinks because pretzels are fat-free they are healthy right… WRONG! Just like rice cakes pretzels have absolutely No nutritional value and contains a lot of carbs, and added processed ingredients.
So look twice at your labels when choosing your go to snack. Avoid anything in a bag or containing the words “100 Calorie Pack”. Instead grab some celery and almond butter, or raw trail mix, or larabars. You will not only look better, you will feel better too!!!
