I have spoken about goals a lot lately… and I think that is because I am finding them to be the key to reasons I have gotten to where I am today. I am talking about my all around goals, some have been accomplished, some have gotten lost in the shuffle, and some I have just flat-out not done!
I had found a couple interesting things in the past months that have really helped me realize the importance of goal setting.
I was going through our bookcase about a month ago, and I came across an old “Body For Life” book that I had journaled in over a 9 month period.
It was eye-opening to see where I was in my life 5 years ago and how far I have come since then. It was a transformation in all aspects: fitness, wellness, career, and family. I had not only reached most of the goals I had set for myself, I had far surpassed what I ever thought was even achievable for me then.
I believe it is fantastic to create goals and always strive to get better. My husband is the poster child for personal development! He is always striving to be the best “Him” that he can be, and I admire that. But we also need to take a moment look at our goals and see how far we have come.
I believe this is a huge part of onward and upward growth; being thankful for the place we have come, the place we are in, and then the places we will go and grow.
Looking back on my goals a month ago, made me more confident in the person that I am and made me have that much more faith in the person I was becoming!
In lif,e we all continue to change and with that so will our goals. What we wanted 5 years ago, a year ago, maybe even a month ago may no longer be what we want for our lives today. Don’t get so stuck in making all your goals on paper become reality that you lose site of what it is you REALLY want.
Now I am not saying let yourself off the hook, I am saying it is ok to make changes to your goals. Some of the goals that I have changed in my life had led to my biggest success’.
So I ask you Fit Ones what are some goals that you look back on and not only achieved but now have taken to a whole new level? What are goals you want to change? What goals do you want for your future?
If you have not started goal setting start today! Imagine how great we will be in 20 years if we continue to evaluate, change, and create goals in our lives…..
