Research has shown that the chemicals that are placed in these delicious delights have many chemicals and additives that could potentially be very harmful long-term.
Here are the top 5 reasons to keep these bright delicious fillers far far away….
#1 Processed foods are filled with empty calories and are actually stripping our body of the good stuff. When we ingest chemicals our body does not know how to effectively break them down and actually begins to strip our digestive tract of the good stuff and store the bad. When you eat natural foods (i.e broccoli, carrots, apples, spinach) your body is actually filled with many vitamins and nutrients and because it is filled with the good, you are less likely to crave the bad!
#2 Processed foods can actually lead to overeating and addiction. In the same way our bodies crave cigarettes for the nicotine they also do this for other chemicals found in processed food. The more we eat the more we crave. Our body doesn’t get a signal that it is full so we continue to overeat and crave the junk food.
#3 Most processed foods don’t even contain the ingredient they are selling. For example take a strawberry fruit roll-up, there isn’t even a strawberry in it! The Huffington Post wrote a great article about the ten reasons to avoid processed food. Even with items that look like they are healthy like sweet potato fries, are loaded with additives and chemicals that are harmful to your health. So much for “Sweet Potato” fries being healthy.
You have to take a look at the foods that you are purchasing and putting in your mouth. If you are unsure of what to eat go back to basics. If you can pick it or plant it you should eat it! If a box has to specify that it is healthy or good for you, it is most likely farther from the truth. A banana doesn’t have a gluten-free label, or fancy packing because it is just known that it is all natural.
