I did an interview today on 100.5 Kickn Country with one of my favorites Trav!
We talked about Fit Chic Tips and Tricks to Healthy this Holiday Season.
Here are my top 5:
#1 Move During the Commericals
With Football Games, Christmas Movies, etc .. Put that time to good use, by doing active movement during the breaks. Maybe knock out some Jumping Jacks or do 3 rounds of 20 squats, 15 sit-ups, 10 pushups during the breaks. You will feel rejuvenated
#2 Eat Protein and Veggies with the Meal:
Pre-eating this or having this at your event first, will help stabilize your blood sugar and avoid the insulin spike and subsequent sugar crash. It will also help subside the cravings for the bad food or over indulging on the bad food!
#3 Drink More H2O –
We often confuse thirst for hunger and go for the hors-d’oeuvre’s when what we really need is a glass of water. If you’re still hungry, then go for the healthiest snack available — fruit, veggies or protein. Try to avoid the dessert table that leave you with no self-control. If you are drinking, space out your adult beverages with a glass of 10 ounces of water in between.
#4 Having Healthy Food Options on Hand:
If you have food options on hand that are healthy. For me I always keep RX or Larabars in my purse, so if there is nothing healthy I know I will have that on hand. If it is potluck style make sure you bring something that you will enjoy and stay in your healthy routine.
#5 Walk and Shop
With Crazy Christmas Shopping .. Do it strategically. Park far away in the parking lot, and make you leave your car in the same spot as you meander around the mall. This will get you a lot of extra steps keeping you fit while you shop till you drop!
Have Fun and Stay Fit this Holiday Season!
