I came across this great article from the NY Times in regards to taking our fitness back to the playground mindset!
Play grounds are the highlight of our youth so why does it have to end there?
I have a few clients that I train in a nearby park. The park has set up “fun” workout equipment as well as the traditional park jungle gym as well. It is so fun to watch adults and children on the “big kids” jungle gym staying healthy and fit in a “fun” environment.
I watch my 10 year old sister and she is in some physical activity every night of the week. If she is not at dance or tae Kwon doe.. then she is running around chasing the dogs, jumping on the trampoline, horseback riding etc.,… She is not only staying very healthy and active she is having a great time doing it!
So Fit Ones, check your local parks and recreation websites and see if there are any “Adult Playgrounds” close to you. Put the “Fun” back in fitness, instead of looking at it as a daunting treacherous chore!
