This past saturday I attended the “Everyday Paleo” nutrition seminar. It was a wonderful seminar with very good insight on how to make a Paleo lifestyle implemented into your daily routine for you and your family.
Sarah really helped demonstrate how to maintain a healthy way of living in a world of not so healthy living!
Here are some key points that I felt were really “key” to becoming and being the healthiest family you can be:
1. Plan, PLan, PLAN!!! Make your crock pot your best friend. This way you can put a meal together in the morning or the night before and you don’t have to worry about coming home from a long stressful day and
2. Cook as a Family… Let everyone participate. This way they feel they are contributing and really are excited about the meals that you are eating. It also is a great way to spend quality “family time” together!
Eating Out:
Here are some helpful hints when eating out:
Mexican: order fajitas no beans no rice extra guacamole and a side salad
Thai Food: Curry, Chicken Satay, Coconut Milk, Soups, Salad
Indian Food: Tandori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Curry
American Food: Burgers without the Bun, Chicken and Veggies, Steak and Sweet Potato (dry), and Salads with Balsamic Dressing…
Sushi: Sashimi, Steak Stir Fry, Seaweed Salad, Coconut Aminos, and Wheat Free Tamari
4. Eating on the Go:
Always make sure you have snacks on hand. Not only for yourself, but your children as well. Here are some great snack ideas:
Beef Jerky (avoid teriyaki as it contains soy and gluten)
Raw Trail Mix (Trader Joes has a great one and it is individually packed)
Fruit
Coconut Flakes
Veggies
Paleo Brands (www.stevesclub.com)
Individually packaged almond butter (Justins has a great one)
