This past weekend I had the pleasure of witnessing the 2011 CrossFit Southern California Regionals. I saw 240 elite athletes compete in 6-8 events to see who was going to move on and compete for “The Fittest Athlete in the World”.
There was many different walks of life; military, former pro athletes, moms, and just normal hard-working dedicated people. All giving everything that they had, doing their best in order to make it to the next level.
These people really had done this day in and day out. Preparing themselves, pushing themselves, and never giving up on their goal got them to this place!
As I looked at the spectators around me, I began to ask myself “Why aren’t they up there”?
Of course some where just spectators, but most belonged to a CrossFit and were doing CrossFit workouts just like the athletes competing.
What I came to realize is that the people who were competing had a goal and focus. They were willing to lay themselves out on the line and do whatever it took to make that goal happen. These athletes had created an environment based on routine, goals, and direction.
If we all lived life with such determination, will, and drive would we be competing? But not just competing in the CrossFit games, but in the game of life…..living each day to the fullest and really fulfilling yourself in the way you know you could and should be living!
Fit ones, how do you want to up the ante? Push yourself to your limits and know at the end of the day you did your best to be the best!
